What Curate is
Curate is a family video platform operated by Bitsavant LLC. Parents use Curate to curate YouTube playlists for their children. Kids watch those playlists on a paired device. There is no advertising, no data sharing, and no third-party analytics.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to users of Curate Parents (iOS), Curate Kids (iOS), and the Curate website at curate.video.
What we collect and why
Parent account
- Email address, used to send you an authentication link. We do not store a password.
- Display name, your full name, used to identify your account.
Child profiles
- Profile label, a name you choose for the child's profile. This is entered by the parent, not the child.
- Age range, a broad bracket (e.g. 2–3, 4–5, 6–8) selected by the parent. Used to adapt the player experience for younger viewers and to suggest age-appropriate content from the Curate collection. Not shared or used for any other purpose.
- Watch progress, the playback position for each video, so your child can resume where they left off.
Paired devices
- Device identifier, basic device characteristics, collected once during pairing to identify the device. No other device identifiers are collected.
Playlists and content
- The videos you add, their order, and how you organize them into groups are stored so your child's playlist is available when they open the app.
- Search queries entered when finding videos are also stored.
Server logs
- IP addresses, logged for security, abuse prevention, and legal record-keeping. We do not use IP addresses for tracking or analytics.
What we do not collect
We do not collect children's names, birthdates, photos, location data, contacts, or behavioral profiles. We do not use analytics SDKs or tracking pixels. We do not run ads.
YouTube
Curate lets parents search YouTube and add videos to playlists. When a parent previews a video, that video loads directly from YouTube and is subject to Google's privacy policy. Kids watch videos through YouTube's embed player, which is also subject to Google's terms. Curate does not control what Google collects during playback.
Payments
Subscription payments are handled by a third-party payment processor on the Curate website. Curate never sees or stores your payment card details. In-app purchases are not offered. No payment data passes through the iOS apps.
Email delivery
Login and account emails are sent through a third-party email delivery service. Your email address is transmitted to this provider solely to deliver these messages and is not used for marketing or shared further.
Third-party service providers
We use a small number of third-party service providers to operate the platform, specifically for payment processing and email delivery. These providers process your data solely to perform these functions on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose. A current list of our service providers is available upon request at [email protected].
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond operating the service as described above.
Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Temporary tokens and playback logs are automatically purged on a regular basis.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from within the Curate Parents app. Deletion permanently removes your account, all child profiles, all playlists, all watch progress, and all paired device records. There is no recovery after deletion.
Children's privacy
The Kids app has no account, no login, and collects no personal information from children. It is paired to a parent's account by the parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We use industry-standard session management and authentication practices.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Curate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
